Broken
Why are we overcome with fear?
What if I told you that fear isn't real.
Why are we overcome with death?
What if I told you my friends your doubt
You could live without!
There is a question
I want to understand
Why can't everyone tell the truth and learn to love again
Do you know...what it feels like to be broken and used
Scared and confused
Yes I know
One more question...I know time is dear
Is what the world speaks of love really real?
The answers not of this world but very clear
Look above to find love and you found eternal life
Street corner preachers you've heard before
Friendly advice just gets thrown out the door
There is a question that I want to understand
Why can't everyone tell the truth...and learn to love again
Do you know...what it feels like to be broken and used?
Scared and confused
Yes I know...what it feels like to be broken and used
Scared and confused
Yes I know I'm Broken!

"Why can't everyone tell the truth and learn to love again"
Wow. The Beatles never said anything close to that a scant 30 years before Creed came along.
Did he write that because the lines
from "I'd like to buy the world a coke" were already written?
There's nothing new under the sun. Originality is limited at best. I don't care for Creed/Stapp music myself. I used his lyrics to show you what he is: Broken. He even says so. How original are you and I in what we do? How often do we sin and need forgiveness? Stapp may be a pud right now, but we all take turns at that.
I like that whole theme of being broken. It's such a humbling experience.
The most unoriginal thing I do is say that Creed sucks.
Even Trent Reznor stopped writing songs about being screwed up because he was becoming a parody of himself.
I'm trying to lean towards talking about wholeness more than brokenness these days, a shift of focus if you will. I've risked the chance of becoming a parody of myself as well: hurt little angry boy with an inferiority complex. I'm trying to move away from that as much as possible.
i think the problem is some people actually are parodies of themselves. while i kind of enjoy when stapp does something stupid, it's sad that he never disappoints. that's probably why all his lyrics are so repetitive is he's stuck in a loop of idiocy.
